The Me-Too Expert Belief is that people are successful because:
They are Rich, Connected or Lucky!
However the truth is usually – if you dig deep enough – that everyone has a personal story or previous history.
eg already achieved a high-level corporate position, MBA or spent 1,000′s £$ on education and attending events or have had succcess in starting a business previously etc
The GTE Expert Mindset Shift #6:
“Your Mess is Your Message”
Everyone is right but everyone is right in varying degrees. We need others just like us to help us make sense of the never ending flow of new information.
People will “align and identify with you best” when they can see you have “been through what they are going through now” and that it “once was a puzzle for you too“ (eg you give them the belief they can achieve what you have achieved too).
Your Personal Path = Your Credibility
Many Experts rebel from their previous business or corporate world and put it all behind them in the online word
Versus taking all that you have previously – experiences, achievements, milestones etc – and leveraging it for all that it’s worth.
Better to have the attitude: Have been successful, can do it again, can take others with you plus you have shown you have the ability to overcome setbacks and obstacles.
In practise, this means coming from exactly where you are now and knowing the best use of your time at any given moment.
Remember the inscription – “Know Thyself” - at the Temple of Apollo in Delphi, Greece?
I believe we must first learn to stand alone before we are able to stand apart.
We must all get very clear on our strengths, passions, values, mission, purpose and our personal story etc
It’s well worth building this foundation for your business, because you can then adopt a no excuses 100% focused approach to moving FORWARDS in a clear direction (with clarity & confidence).
The Takeaway: Practise the mantra “Learn it, Live it and Leverage it” (because a concept is still a concept until you have experience & expertise in it)
