Silencing Your Inner Critic

Earl Nightingale: "Your mind moves in the direction of your currently dominant thoughts"

I am sure you are aware of the power of holding your attention on what you want to create in your life, since this is what you will attract.

There is, however, also tremendous value in looking at the other side of this equation, for it is in contrast that we can often find clarity.

One of the blocks to having what we want in our lives is the inner critic that is present and operating behind the scenes.

Here's the problem: Whenever you focus on a worthy goal, there is in the back of your mind, resistance to this idea. Your internal critic is chattering away telling you how difficult it will be. Often you are in conflict and probably not even aware of it.

Fortunately, there is a fairly simple solution to this dilemma.

Begin your goal setting by first identifying what you do not want. I'm not suggesting for a second that you dwell on what you don't want in your life. Just that you devote some time and energy surfacing everything you don't want.

By doing this simple step, you've cleared the way for the next important step, deciding what you do want.

Once you're clear as to what you do not want, with regard to your goal, you can begin to list what you do want to have and experience.

By first allowing your fears and resistances to become known to you, you've cleared the way to have more of what you do want.

Once you've identified what you don't want, don't keep going back to it. As a matter of fact, you might want to take your "don't want" list and burn it.

Instead devote all of your time, energy, resources and attention and thoughts to what you do want.

Many fitness professionals are held back because they aren't attracted to "sales" or "marketing", or see "money" as wrong or poor motivation for what they do.

Yet it is often the wealthy, prosperous individuals in any society who are also the ones making contributions to charities and non-profit groups, building businesses which provide jobs, and all in all, contributing a lot of good to our world.

Plus we can enjoy the material things in our lives without being attached to them.

So by first focusing on your relationship with money and clearing up any objections you currently hold; you enable yourself to move forward faster with clear values as to what money + success means to you (personally).

And when you are confident on the value you give, you will have no issue with marketing it (raising your visibility).
