5 Quick Tips for Struggling Life Coaches


1. “How many clients you have” is the wrong focus to measure your success. Instead start asking yourself: How many people do you impact? How can you reach out to more people, in more ways? How can you offer more value at lower costs?

2. Calling yourself a “Life Coach” just does not cut it anymore. Over 50% of life coaches earn less than $20,000 per year (Stephen Fairley 2008). You’ve got to stop talking up what you do and be more specific in terms of what tangible outcome you offer.

3. You don’t need a niche! A niche is a limiting concept. Instead of being market-focused; get mission focused. Get behind a cause. This will bring more people to you, rather than restricting yourself to a predefined niche (for you to then respond to – rather than market to).

4. Stop giving your time away with free sessions! Instead let prospects get to know you through free reports, free assessments or inexpensive infoproducts. Give clients an immediate gain versus giving away your premium offer – access to you!

5. Have a proven curriculum (signature project). A CO-shared project for clients to embark on. This encourages client longevity, and client successes, so you ultimately spend more time coaching and less time promoting.
