1. Become a VERY social person.
If you have been looking for a good business excuse to become one, here’s your chance! One of the best ways to become more social is to call up the most popular person you know and ask them to invite you to the parties, meetings or gatherings they go to. Tell them you simply want to raise your profile.
2. Take up some new interests.
One of the best ways to expand your local network is to hang out with some new people. I’ve always found that taking up a new hobby, group or outdoor activity is a way to connect with a lot of new people and integrate into their already-existing networks.
3. Become somebody in your city/community.
Many coaches are involved in community groups, or they volunteer, or they head up a committee for the Chamber of Commerce or whatever. They become a player in their community with increases their visibility and puts them in a higher league of other players where you’re more likely to find potential clients.
4. Start hosting a local success group.
I know a lot of mavens who host a weekly or monthly MasterMind group in their living rooms or in their offices. These get-togethers can position you as the ‘coach’ of the group, thus helping to create your reputation among the group and into the communities of people that the members of your group know.
5. Join a local breakfast business group.
Folks who join these (and get up early to attend) are fairly gung ho types who may be open to hiring you as a their coach. And, most importantly, these mavens often have extensive Rolodexes and can be excellent referral sources once they get to know you.
