One Minute Coach - 2

The “Impossible” Is Often the Untried [by Masha Malka]

What is now proved was once impossible - William Blake (1757-1827, British poet and artist)

If you deliberately plan on being less than you are capable of being, then I warn you that you'll be unhappy for the rest of your life - Abraham H. Maslow (1908-1970, American psychologist)

Do you believe it is possible for you to become fulfilled and successful in all areas of your life?

You might know an unforgettable example of making the impossible possible, achieved by Roger Bannister on May 6, 1954. For centuries before that date, it was considered humanly impossible to run a mile in under four minutes. There was a widespread belief that, if you did, your heart would explode!

Roger Bannister believed something different and proved to the world that what was considered to be impossible was not so. The amazing fact is not just that Mr. Bannister was able to run a mile in less than four minutes, but that just one year later, thirty-seven other people around the world followed his example, and, within two years, three hundred runners managed to break the previously “impossible” record!

Why?

Because whatever you believe, becomes your self-fulfilling prophecy. If you believe it is impossible for you to become successful and fulfilled in all areas of your life, then it is very unlikely that you will. However, if you see someone in the same position as you, who has “made it,” and you change your belief system because of that example, then you will open the door to the great possibility of becoming and getting all that you want in life.

Action Steps

1.    Remind yourself daily that, if you desire something with all your heart and soul, it is because you are meant to have it. One of the wisest persons who ever lived, Rebbe Nachman of Breslov (1772-1810), points out: “Always remember, you are never given an obstacle you cannot overcome.”

2.    Create an unshakable belief in your ability to reach your goals. When you follow your dreams and believe you can reach them, everything in life supports you. Even the obstacles you come across along the way are there to teach you and ultimately help you get to where you want to be.
